Trump’s Gold Card Visa Program

President Donald Trump announced a new visa program called the “Trump Gold Card,” which allows wealthy foreigners, including Russian oligarchs, to obtain U.S. citizenship for $5 million. This program is expected to replace the existing EB-5 immigrant investor visa and is set to begin in about two weeks. The initiative is designed to attract affluent individuals who will invest in the U.S. economy, pay substantial taxes, and contribute to job creation.

Controversial Aspects and Reactions

While the program aims to boost the U.S. economy, it has sparked controversy due to the high cost and potential inclusion of individuals with questionable backgrounds. The program’s launch coincides with Trump’s efforts to deport millions of undocumented immigrants, leading to criticisms of hypocrisy. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick assured that applicants would undergo thorough vetting to ensure they are “wonderful, world-class global citizens.”
